Hexofloat® is EuroCover Water Systems’ own patented hexagonal floating cover — EU-engineered, manufactured on EuroCover-owned tooling, and formally AWTT design-approved. It carries the same self-contained-chamber, anchorless, hexagonal-tessellation concept as Hexprotect® AQUA, with a lighter shell, smaller tile, shorter EU lead times, and a 15-year service life envelope.

What is Hexofloat®?

Hexofloat® is a patented modular HDPE hexagonal element designed for industrial water bodies — reservoirs, tailings ponds, treatment tanks, irrigation storage. Each tile is 190 mm diameter with a self-contained chamber (no separate ballast required), and the cover tessellates at 99% effective surface coverage like its larger sibling. AWTT design-approved the product; EuroCover owns the tooling, the patent, and the EU supply chain end-to-end.

How Hexofloat® compares with Hexprotect® AQUA

Both products share the working principle. The differences are envelope and supply (AWTT-published values for AQUA below):

  • Tile size — 190 mm (Hexofloat®) vs AWTT 220 mm (Hexprotect® AQUA).
  • Material weight — ~30% less plastic per tile vs Hexprotect® AQUA.
  • Shell thickness — ~30% thinner wall vs Hexprotect® AQUA.
  • Wind resistance — 75 MPH vs AWTT 130+ MPH (Hexprotect® AQUA is the hurricane-rated cover).
  • Buoyancy — Less buoyant than Hexprotect® AQUA.
  • Life expectancy — 15 years vs 25+ years (AWTT-published).
  • Warranty — Same 10-year manufacturer warranty (AWTT for AQUA; EuroCover for Hexofloat®).
  • Lead time — 3–6 weeks (EU manufacturing) vs 2–8 weeks for Hexprotect® AQUA.
  • Shipping — More compact than Hexprotect® AQUA.
  • NSF certification — NSF/ANSI food-grade formulations available on Hexofloat® (not certified by default); Hexprotect® AQUA is NSF/ANSI food-grade by default.

When the project’s binding constraint is lead time, supply-chain risk, EU-sourcing policy, or transport efficiency, Hexofloat® is the EuroCover answer. When the binding constraint is hurricane exposure, the longest validated life, or NSF-by-default for potable applications, Hexprotect® AQUA remains the choice. See the Hexprotect® AQUA vs. Hexofloat® side-by-side.

How Hexofloat® works

  • Material: HDPE. NSF/ANSI food-grade and FDA-compliant formulations available for potable applications (not NSF-compliant by default — specify food-grade at order time).
  • Geometry: 190 mm hexagonal element with self-contained chamber.
  • Ballast: Self-contained chamber (hexagonal); less buoyant than Hexprotect® AQUA.
  • Installation: Anchorless. Launched from the shoreline; self-distributes via natural water motion. Identical to Hexprotect® AQUA install procedure.
  • Maintenance: None required — no moving parts, no power consumption.
  • Manufacturing: European Union, on EuroCover-owned tooling.

Use cases

  • Industrial reservoirs (evaporation + algae control)
  • Mining tailings (evaporation + dust control)
  • Wastewater treatment (odor + emission control)
  • Anaerobic digesters (heat retention + odor)
  • Agricultural irrigation storage (evaporation control)
  • Hot wells and cooling ponds (heat retention)
  • Projects where EU origin or short lead time is a procurement constraint

Lead time

Typically 3–6 weeks for EU delivery — manufactured on EuroCover-owned EU tooling. More compact than Hexprotect® AQUA for shipping, which reduces transport cost on larger orders.

Frequently asked questions

What is Hexofloat®? #
Hexofloat® is EuroCover Water Systems' own patented hexagonal floating cover, EU-engineered and manufactured on EuroCover-owned tooling. It uses the same self-contained-chamber, hexagonal-tessellation concept as Hexprotect® AQUA — and is AWTT design-approved — but with a smaller 190 mm tile, ~30% lighter shell, ~30% thinner wall, and shorter European lead times (3–6 weeks).
How is Hexofloat® different from Hexprotect® AQUA? #
Hexofloat® and Hexprotect® AQUA share the working principle (self-contained chamber, hexagonal tile, anchorless install) but have different envelopes. Hexofloat® is ~30% lighter and ~30% thinner-walled, less buoyant, more compact to ship, with a 15-year life expectancy and 75 MPH wind resistance — vs Hexprotect® AQUA's 25+ year life and 130+ MPH wind certification. Both carry the same 10-year manufacturer warranty. Hexofloat® is not NSF-compliant by default; food-grade material can be specified at order time.
Is Hexofloat® AWTT-approved? #
Yes. The Hexofloat® design is formally approved by AWTT — the original hexagonal-cover patent holder. EuroCover designed and tools the product, and AWTT approves the design for compatibility with the wider hexagonal-cover lineage.
Is Hexofloat® patented? #
Yes — Hexofloat® is a patented EuroCover product on EuroCover-owned tooling.
When should I choose Hexofloat® over Hexprotect® AQUA? #
When lead time is the binding constraint (3–6 weeks vs 2–8 weeks for AQUA depending on origin), when EU-only supply continuity is required, when transport efficiency matters (more compact to ship), or when site wind exposure stays below 75 MPH and a 15-year service life is acceptable. Choose Hexprotect® AQUA for hurricane-exposed sites, the most demanding chemical / temperature envelopes, and longest validated life.
Is Hexofloat® safe for drinking water? #
Hexofloat® is not NSF-compliant by default, but it can be manufactured in 100% NSF/ANSI food-grade material with FDA-compliant formulations. Specify food-grade material at order time for potable applications.
How is it installed? #
Anchorless — installs identically to Hexprotect® AQUA. Elements launch from the shoreline and self-distribute via natural water motion. No draining required.
What's the lead time? #
Typically 3–6 weeks for EU delivery. EuroCover confirms the exact lead time at quotation.
